Growers who are in possession of the hygiene protocol for the prevention of the Cucumber Mottled Virus gathered last Wednesday afternoon in an exclusive meeting at Horticoop's head office in Bleiswijk.
In recent years, the group of growers has made great strides in understanding the virus problem, which has made the problem increasingly manageable.
Ron Peters, developer of the protocol, presented a number of trials he has set up over the past few months. Ron has tried to go further than protocol dictates in treating and preventing the virus in his lab. The aim was to avoid surprises when it comes to applying the prescribed cleaning agents, such as the specially developed Hortiwash.
In a relaxed atmosphere, knowledge and skills were shared with each other and this is certainly worth repeating.
